Completing and Skipping Tasks

Learn how to work through tasks in a process instance.

Completing a Task

To complete a task:

  1. Open the process instance from your dashboard or inbox.
  2. Navigate to the task you want to complete.
  3. Fill in any required form fields.
  4. Click Complete Task.

Once completed, the task is marked with a green checkmark and the progress bar updates.

Skipping a Task

If a task isn’t relevant for a particular instance, you can skip it:

  1. Open the task.
  2. Click Skip Task.

Skipped tasks are marked differently from completed tasks and don’t count toward the progress percentage.

You can only skip tasks that don’t have required form fields. If a task has required fields, you’ll need to fill them in before completing or skipping.

Task Dependencies

If a task has dependencies, it will appear locked until the required preceding tasks are completed. You’ll see a message indicating which tasks need to be finished first.

Undoing a Completion

If you completed a task by mistake, you can undo it by clicking the completed task and selecting Undo Complete. This resets the task back to its incomplete state.

Approval Tasks

Approval tasks work differently — they require someone to approve or reject the task rather than simply completing it. See Approval Workflows for more details.
