Navigating the Dashboard
An overview of the key areas in NextStep and how to get around.
Sidebar
The sidebar is your main navigation. It includes:
- Dashboard — View all your active and completed process instances, track progress, and manage runs.
- Create Process — Opens the process creation modal to start building a new process template.
- Process Library — Browse and manage all your process templates.
- Run Process — Quickly start a new instance of a published process.
- Schedule — View and manage scheduled processes.
- Inbox — See tasks assigned to you and comments that mention you.
- Settings — Manage your team, branding, and account settings.
The sidebar can be collapsed on larger screens using the collapse button.
Dashboard
The dashboard shows all your process instances at a glance.
Filter tabs:
- Active — Instances still in progress.
- Completed — Finished instances.
- Overdue — Active instances that are past their due date.
Search and group:
- Search instances by title.
- Toggle Group by Process to organise instances by their process template.
Sort by:
- Due date
- Date started
- Progress percentage
Each instance shows its progress bar, status badge, start date, due date, and quick actions.
Command Palette
Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) to open the command palette. This lets you quickly search for processes and navigate to any page without using the mouse.
The inbox shows badge counts for unread comments and assigned tasks, so you can see at a glance if anything needs your attention.
